Description
Letter from Mary Pickford to James W. Robb, dated April 3, 1945. Transcript: "Dear Jimmy: You have been much in our thoughts and conversations. The other night saw Billy McDonald who said he had recently received a letter from you and that you had commanded the Air Support and Amphibian landing at Iwo Jima. What an experience! Buddy is still anxious to get to the South Pacific. Think he is getting very restless at the Field as all of the old gang are gone but Buddy and Johnny Jones. The, too, letters from his brother in France make him long to be in the thick of it. We had Captain McQuiston and Lt. Commander Harris with us at Pickfair for a couple of days on their way to the Pacific War Zone. They were gone for about three weeks. I talked to them on the telephone upon their return but did not see them as they were in town only a day on their way east. All is serene at Pickfair although I see little of it these days as I leave early in the morning for the studio and do no return until late at night. I am deep in preparations for ONE TOUCH OF VENUS. It is hard work but I thrive on that. Today I am taking time off to make a recording for the Philippines and tomorrow we are entertaining at Pickfair twenty eight Filipino officers who are here for a refresher course."
