Christine Weir in jewelry box float, parade, Port Richmond, New York, 1923
Title
Christine Weir in jewelry box float, parade, Port Richmond, New York, 1923
Description
Christina Weir towing young Christine Weir in a "jewelry box" float as part of a parade on Heberton Avenue in Staten Island, New York. This is located between the intersection of Heberton with Day and Bond Streets. The original photo has "our little jewel" written on the back and "2 1/2 years" written on the front. Note community members in background as well as striped awnings on houses and American flag at far left. Also notable is a float that appears to be a wagon with flower petal wheels and a person in butterfly costume inside (being pulled by others in butterfly costumes). Handwritten caption on grayscale copy in Ellen Robb's album/scrapbook: "Jewelry box (our little jewel), Christine 1 yr?" [Note: this is inaccurate; Christine is 2.5 years]. SEE ALSO robb0109 which shows another baby parade on Heberton Avenue in September 1922; this may have been taken a year later (part of a Labor Day parade?). Names: Robb, Christine Jane (née Weir), 1921-2014; Weir, Christina Caroline (née Werner), 1888-1959.
