Title

George Washington Werner and his niece Jane McShea, Manchester or Shortsville, New York circa 1930

Description

This photo is believed to be George Washington Werner and a young Jane McShea (the daughter of George's sister, Florence). Their identity is unconfirmed, but likely. They appear to be sitting in the entrance of a shop. George is smoking a cigarette. He would have been the child of Charles Werner and Sarah Jane Werner (née Poole). This photo would likely date to circa 1930. Jane's mother died at a young age in 1940, and the 1940 U.S. Census shows Jane living with her uncle Russell shortly thereafter. SEE ALSO: robb0007 for a group portrait that appears to include these two individuals as well, roughly a year later. Names: Werner, George Washington, 1908-1987; Brickler, Jane (née McShea), 1928-2002
